What will be the typical loadout for a infantryman? I have read that union soldiers have carried up to 100 rounds but i am unsure as to where they kept them.

I'm sure maybe 60 or so rounds in the tins(maybe less). As for extra they were probably carried in the knapsack or mule collar in arsenal packs like this... I don't think 100 full size cartridges would fit in the tins

60rds? Yes thats adequate.... Will we be seeing supply trains though for a chance to replenish? Or just a straight 60rds? ( Not sure if this has been asked already or not...If it has been I Havn't seen it)

Can we pick up ammo from the dead on the battlefield?

Most likely, also I have read in the history of my ancestor's regiment that they carried 100 rounds each at first, before they realized it was not a good idea.

Don't worry i doubt most of us will live long enough to fire sixty shots.

true but stranger things have happened and history has proven it ;) I assume the Sharps Rifle will have a faster reload time in game thus using more ammunition than a muzzleloading rifle. The average soldier could fire 3 rounds per minute with a muzzleloading rifle and I think the sharps upped that to 10 rounds per minute. Of course fowling is going to be an issue.. But even if your training I still think it would be nice to be able to resupply your troops in the field

Well if youre one of the lucky ones to live long enough i'm they'll be plenty of dead people around you to loot.

60 rounds for a 3-per minute rifle is more than adequate. Sounds good to me.

Well in north and south I frequently run low on ammo(Guess I am a good bullet dodger):p But that's twenty five shots not sixty so even I'll probably buy it before I run out.

Most regimental histories I've read suggest that the most common number was 60 when the army was prepared and ready. Many of the battles were fought without a lot of the regiments being supplied regularly as you may have been on skirmish duty one day and the next you fought a full battle. Most of the Union regiments at Antietam went into the battle with full ammo as they had a good line of supply and the Confederates who had been on the march for several weeks went in with 40 or less.

For Historical it would be 40 rounds anymore then that would be overkill

you can rob it from death people I would say and maybe there will be some ammo boxes on the battlefield ^^

From a Napoleonic Historical point of view. I'd imagine 30 or so rounds in the top block of the cartridge box with another 20-30 underneath the block. Though it would take a bit of time to get these out.

Scavenging ammo from fallen troops would be a nice touch though not completely necessary. How ever if this was implemented I think they should keep true to the proper calibers of weapons used. you cant fire a .69cal round out of a .58cal rifle..just to be a tad more realistic

I'm also thinking this which makes me wonder how the Fouling mechanics will even work in Game, will it be attributed to your character over the span of an entire Game and multiple lives? Like I can imagine your gun getting gunked up and under-performing after like 10 shots might annoy people rather than being immersive.

40-60 shots is sufficient.

I think when the reinforcement waves come there could be an option to carry an ammunition create forward but limit the number of times.

It would be good if they had Horse drawn carts that could carry supplies that Players could pick up (like Ammo crates). I'm wondering if they're going to do this for Cannons (the ability to transport them around along with Ammo etc) or whether they'll just be static.

In my opinion artillery ammunition should be limited unless an ammo limber is with the battery it would be nice to see and accurate but may only be possible for artillery companies rather than random groups too many will want to fire rather than help load.
