View Full Version : A question about the Pledges

Hello,

I have been following the development for sometime, and have been really hyped for this game. I showed it to some of my friends and one began criticising it saying about 'micro-transactions' with the items found in the pledges once the game is released, stating it would be effectivly a 'pay-to-win'. I told him I didn't think it would, but I would like to tell them.
So if any are able to take the time to reply to this and tell me if purchasing the weapons, etc.... found in the pledges would actually be the case.

You have to put into account that the pledge weapons are not superweapons, for example, captains like myself get the Colt Walker M1847 revolver, however, it was stated on a Q&A stream (I believe) that the revolvers cannot be reloaded and so must only be used in dire circumstances such as a last stand and in an enemy charge as shown in the kick-starter video. It was also stated on the same stream that all muskets have the same reload time, therefore (I believe), some guns such as the Hawken rifle received at major is purely cosmetic. you can obviously expect (As stated in the stream again), Sharpshooter's weapons to have different reload rates but you have to also consider the disadvantages such as those against cavalry, artillery, etc.

Im not sure if I am allowed to post links so if you want this developer Q&A stream, type in on Youtube "War of Rights Q&A Livestream: Developer Interview!"

Please do correct me if I am wrong though.

Welcome to the forum!

Couldn't be further from the truth in terms of us being pay to win. For every backer exclusive weapon, there'll be at least one in-game available for non backers that's capable of doing the exact same thing as the weapons for our backers.

You might find more information on the topic in this thread (http://www.warofrightsforum.com/showthread.php?1003-Exclusive-Pledge-Uniforms-Question-Suggestion&highlight=Pledge+item). From what I can remember the devs have said that the pledged items will only be allowed to the backers. I don't think there are any plans for micro-transactions in this game so I don't know where your friend is getting that from.

Edit: Seems trusty beat me to it anyway

Thank you. I wanted I was trying to say that to him I just needed to have some evidence and someone who could explain it better than me.

Thank you. As I said in my last reply to Lyman Trumbull I am going to show this to my friend since they were quite sceptical.
And again thank you.

Whats the non-backer equivalent of the Colt Walker the Officer tier gets? I personally wouldn't mind seeing some buffs (like if the non backer Pistol is reload-able make the Walker more Powerful).

The game isn't out yet, mate. It's still in development. The alpha should be out soon?

A technical demo will be out first with the drill camp, then the first skirmishes. (Alpha)
