There's not cap on number of players.

but wont it lag if theres like 300 in a server, if you see on a mount and blade warband napoleonic wars server with over 100 so it already begins to lag (with ping) and 200 players, well RIP melee

That depends from the hoster. The 33rd and the 77y can host servers with 200 players without any lag issue.
