Yesterday, a car bomb went off in Baghdad very near to where my grandparents currently live, there have been many similar bombings in the past, however, this one is more personal to myself. My uncle owns a store on that very street and opposite, a cafe where he and his three closest friends were sitting, including but not limited to two of his friend's sons, who had just graduated from university. As my uncle and his friends were watching the Italy vs Germany match, my uncle decided to go to the back of the cafe to make a phone call, however, at that very moment, the bomb went off, instantly killing my uncle's best friends and their children, my uncle was hurt quite badly by the bomb, however, he was still able to move, he could not get out as there was a fire and so was stuck, however, he luckily found a window and managed to call one my mother's cousin to bring a ladder as it was a high drop, thankfully, my uncle was able to escape just as the fire was reaching him, however, he was unfortunately burnt quite badly by the flames. This was another cowardly attack by IS which has killed over 120 men, women and children and injuring another 150.

very sad but no big outpourings of grief by society because the victims were muslim

this attack similar to the Turkish airport attack and the Paris attacks is because they are losing and trying desperately to appear strong

The mod team's hearts go out to you and your family. Acts of terrorism like that surely won't go unanswered.

Not so. I believe there was such little grief(at least here in the US) mostly because of the recent attacks in Orlando and Istanbul. All these attacks happened within one month of each other. You can only grieve so much for people you don't know, but I will try Lyman Trumbull.

Thank you all for the kind words, IS really has been plaguing the world and causing distress and grief to all and I really do hope that something major can be done about them soon.

Allah bless you. I am a Muslim myself, I live in the U.S. but I have many family members that lives throughout the city of Beirut and other villages. Unfortunately I know the pain you go through as countless acts of terrorism get carried out in Lebanon as well. This recent bombing is some of the worst I've seen yet, my prayers for the next week go out to your family personally and the countless others who encounter this same kind of evil in the world. Be good, recover well.
