using the flip up sights seems to throw the trajectory of the bullet way off to the left or right at the target range.

I agree that the ballistics seems a little incorrect at the moment. When I use the flip or ladder sights the bullet seems to go at a lower trajectory than if I had just used the default sights.

That is because of how we track bullets on the firing range. We can't directly (at least not without quite a bit of work) track the bullet as that is considered a cheat by the server so we're tracking the accuracy by ray casting from the gun instead. This works fine at the smaller ranges with little to no bullet drop and when the rifle is level - doesn't work well with the flip up sights though (unlevel rifle). So in short, yes, you can't really test the accuracy of the flip up sights and the trajectory on the firing range just, but they do work. :)

So does this mean that outside of the firing range everything works as it should? Or is everything raycast? Forgive me if I'm using the wrong terminology or something, I don't know much about this.

Everything except the firing range tracking works as intended yes. We have and use accurate bullet trajectories, muzzle velocities and the flip up sights are zeroed in at their various correct ranges (enfield style flip up sights not included). There's no raycasting outside of the targeting area.

Ok cool, so the enfield sights still need some work? I also recomend adding flip us sights to the Mississippi because it's very hard to exploit the guns strengths with a bad sight.

Yep, the three step style sight of that of the springfield for intance, is quite a bit easier to implement than the, technically indefinte ranges the enfield style sight offers. :P
Also yeah, we might do another mississippi rifle variant at some point.
