I just added search functionality to the Company Records and now by default, it only loads the 20 most recent events and underneath the 20 events, there's a button to load all company records.

I also added support for sending telegrams directly to individual soldiers. At the moment it can only be done from the soldiers profile. There's a button next to the button where you view the soldiers enlistment papers.

Now the Company Staff can write telegrams to individuals directly from the Options panel for each of their soldiers.

I just pushed a small, but very nice feature (if you ask me) for those companies still mustering to get to the 10 soldier mark. Now the button just above the company records that used to say "View All 'Nation' Companies", will instead say "View all competing companies('amount')", it will however still display what it used to display, if your company has already been claimed. Clicking the button will bring you to the view companies page where its already been sorted to only view companies similar to yours. So now you can much more easily keep track of if your company is in danger of being claimed by somebody else.

I just added a "Telegram Sent To" panel on the main page of the Company Tool

Also when people recieve the email. The email the telegram was sent from will no longer be support@warofrights.com. It will be your own email. So the reciever of the telegram can respond directly to the email and you the sender, will recieve that email. We have had a few answers being sent to support@warofrights.com during these past few weeks hehe.

A reply button inside the Company Tool is coming soon.

So what do you guys actually think of the Company Tools telegram support right now? Especially the reply feature. Is it totally perfect the way it is right now? Do you want it to be deeper and more complex?

Personally I feel that its kinda in the middle between chatting on something like steam, and sending emails since the tool will refresh new telegrams on its own, it just has a short delay.

I've been thinking about adding sort of a "Pin" button to telegrams. To mark important telegrams. And then having them moved into a 3rd container. So we would have both Recieved Telegrams, Sent Telegrams and pinned telegrams. And then perhaps moving the telegrams into a completely new page of its own. And only showing Recieved telegrams on the main Company Tool page.

Regular can be for chat and informal inter-company communication, important for more immersive roleplay and the like. There could be a tag system when composing the telegram, so it goes into the correct folder of the recipient.

Some of you may have noticed that on the main page of the Company Tool with the list of telegrams. the lists scroll was sometimes reset. Every 10 seconds actually, it would reset. It happened when it checked the server for new telegrams. That has now been fixed. So those of you with 100s of telegrams should have a much easier time navigating through it.

If you spot anything else that keeps reseting, like drop down menus for example, let me know and I'll fix it asap.

Just added the beginning of a personal options panel

Currently there's just the option of choosing wether or not you want your email to be shown as the sender when sending telegrams. If you choose "No", the email in the telegrams will just be CompanyTool@warofrights.com. It defaults to "Yes"

I also plan an adding an option for changing the email associated with your account.

Other things that will probably be added is something like "Notify me by email when I recieve a telegram. Notify me by email when someone volunteers to join my company".

If you have any other ideas, feel free to throw them at us

I discussed it briefly with Trusty via steam but i would like to make an Official request here. Can the company tool be changed to show the names of members last names in A-Z order? At the moment its Z-A by first name which seems a bit odd, not sure thats a common thing? Or perhaps an option to change between them if needs be. But A-Z by Surname would be preferable!

What do you mean? :p

Currently the telegrams arent actually being deleted. They will just be hidden away. The plan is when I get around to create a telegram page of its own instead of this very small one. You will have 3 sort of folders. Recieved telegrams, sent telegrams and a sort of garbage can. This is where these "deleted" telegrams will land. They will be marked for deletion after 24 hours. Until that time has passed. You can still change your mind if you decide you wanted to keep that particular telegram after all.

Fun fact. So far, 55080 telegrams have been sent with the Company Tool :)

Hi,

Is there anyway you can add code to telegrams so we can direct peeps to our company easier. This will allow them to join up faster.

Example:

2nd BERDAN SHAPSHOOTERS APPPLY WITH IN: (https://warofrights.com/CT_ViewCompany?companyID=1847#companyToolHeader)

It would make our life easier when sending out recruiting Telegrams. I spend more time trying to help peeps find the company to join then necessary

Thanks

Hello, just a question about the Company tool. Is this the only means of making a company in War Of Rights or can you also apply companies via the forums? The reason of asking, is because there is a great limitation of regiments in the Company creation tool of which majority are not what I seek.

In best regards.

Leifr

It is not possible to reserve a company on the forum - that is an abhorrent NW practice.
You may only hold a company in the company tool, and you must have a minimum of ten players to consolidate it.

It could be that which you seek were not component parts of the Maryland Campaign which this game focuses on.

Since the game is about the Maryland Campaign, we just support units, which took part in that campaign :)
There is plenty of room for regiments/companies.

It'd be nice to organize regiments with the company tool (I know that sounds strange). It would be the same layout, but instead of platoons, it would list companies and their command staff with an X/100 number of people in the company and in place of the company staff, it would be regimental staff.

We do plan on adding regiment organization at some point in the future. But for now you will have to suffice with an update to the algorithm that collects the companies for viewing at the page with the various filters: https://warofrights.com/CT_ViewCompanies . It was working fine when the Company Tool was initially released. But as more companies have been created, it has gotten slower and slower. But with this new update, it should update a lot faster as the page is initially loaded and as the filters are changed.

The Company Tool has been updated with the following features:

The Company Tool can now be viewed without having logged in with a profile, especially useful for newcomers to the game. If without being logged in, you discover you can do things your not supposed to be able to, such as sending telegrams or volunteering for companies, please let me know.

The random posters to the left and right on the website now links to random formed companies in the company tool.

Nice to see that the Company Tool is still getting some attention and being updated.

I do have a request though, would it be possible to group together regiments onto one company tool page? Essentially the same layout but replace platoons with companies of that regiment and maybe only list the command staff of that company followed by a numerical count of that company.

I don't know if this is on the CT yet, but I was thinking it be very helpful to be able to see all the volunteers as a company staff member. It would be much easier for smaller regiments to recruit, by seeing who doesn't have a company and sending them a telegram. Like clicking a button and seeing all the union volunteers, and another one for confederate volunteers. Just a thought. As of now as I can see the CT only shows how many people are volunteers, and then below the telegrams is a few people who recently joined with a search bar to find someone.

Hello.

We have today (with the help of forum user A. P. Hill) made some changes to which companies can be created inside the Company Tool. When the Company Tool was originally created it was made so that every single regiment could create companies of every single used company letter (A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, K) regardless of whether or not those companies actually existed in real life, during the Maryland Campaign.

The changes made today, makes players unable to create a new company with an unhistorical letter. If a current unhistorical company is not formed (having less than 10 members), we may in the future force those companies to pick a new company letter or have them disband their company, same behavior as if their company had been claimed by a different company. If some of the unhistorical companies are formed companies (10 or more members), we will offer them to get their unit transfered to a different company, but if they decline, we will allow them to keep their company name and resume existing as that particular company. The affected companies will be notified inside the Company Tool and by email.

The affected companies can be viewed by following this link: https://warofrights.com/CheckForInvalidCompanies

Allow me to stress that we have not removed any existing companies yet. At the moment, this is only what we plan to do in the somewhat near future.

If you feel we have made a mistake in removing a particular company that did actually fight in the American Civil War during the Maryland Campaign. Please let us know in this thread.

We have also added the following new units to the Company Tool.

Please note, with regard to Artillery, units showing multiple letters with a slash between them, this indicates that sections or portions of both batteries were used to form one functional battery. Depending on the number of guns in the battery. This does not indicate guns greater than 6 at the most in battery arrangement.

Have a great time!

Is there a way current companies can change their current company letter now? I know the 9th didn’t have company A according to Hill’s chart. If I could change my letter to an appropriate one that be awesome. Since I wasn’t aware till after I made it.

Like an option to change company and an option to change regiment completely without disbanding?

It will be limited to changing company letters only.

Awesome. That's good because it prevents people from changing unit one week after another without some sort of set back.

You guys changed the name of my battery incorrect. Can you please change it to the correct name Richmond howtizers 1st company.

Why I'm I listed now as a invalid company?
The name used to be Richmond howitzers battery a which is indeed wrong you now changed it to maccarties battery which is also wrong . You only needed to change the A into 1st company that would solve the name problem

Could you link to the profile of the company you are talking about? Looking up your Company Tool account via the email of your forum profile shows you are part of the 3rd Alabama Co. A.

Here's the thing. In real life during the war, not very often was a battery ever called by it's organizational name, (i.e. The Richmond Howitzers - 1st Company,) but batteries were more often called into action using the then known commander's named Battery, thus, McCarthy's Battery. Also of note, you will be hard pressed to find any maps of engagements where the artillery is listed as an organization name, it's always listed as it was called at the time, by the commander's name. (As an example, please Look here! (https://www.battlefields.org/learn/maps/antietam-west-woods-9-am-noon) you'll find McCarthy, just to the right of JACKSON towards the middle left of the picture.)

You are indeed captain of the Richmond Howitzers - 1st Company, McCarthy's Battery.

Respectfully,

Powell.

On the maps they used indeed McCarthy's Battery but in the organisation they used the 1st Company as name and I got all the Richmond Howitzers battalion books on my bookshelf in which they never name the battery McCarthy's Battery but always either the 1st 2nd or 3rd Company due to the history of these batteries.

As of now as I can see the CT only shows how many people are volunteers, and then below the telegrams is a few people who recently joined with a search bar to find someone.

btw, if you click Search without typing anything in, then it will show you a list of all the profiles on the Company Tool. Very useful I know, and you are welcome.. ;) (joke)

On the contrary Sir.
according to my database, I do have their Zouave designations appropriately called out, however, their official US military designations 5th and 9th were their official designations.

Maybe because there is no 1st Texas company M made in the company tool because you disbanded it. Another one to the list -> next up 1st Minnesota Co. C ?

A quick update on the Company Tool.

It is now possible to change the email associated with your company tool account as well delete your account entirely should you so desire.

Keep in mind, if you are currently set as being the owner of a company. Deleting your account will also delete your company.

It can be done by going to your profile page by clicking either on your large photo or clicking on your name on the company tool navigation bar. Then on your profile page, there is a button called Company Tool Options from where the new features can be found.
