Welcome to the Massachusetts Sharpshooters, Company “A” of the Union Army!
The Massachusetts Sharpshooters were a regiment formed in Lynn, Massachusetts on September 2nd, 1861. These young men were originally meant to fight with Colonel Hiram Berdan and his Sharpshooters but were informed they were not receiving their enlistment bounties and decided to stay as an independent unit. These brave skirmishers fought amongst the best at Antietam, Fredericksburg, and Gettysburg among many other battles. As skirmishers, it was their job to delay, harass, recon, and eliminate key leaders on the battlefield, trained in unconventional warfare; they were the scourge of anyone who stepped onto the battlefield.
Fast forward to 2016, and we wish to honour those men with the creation of our War of Rights community, name in honour of the Massachusetts Sharpshooters "A" Company. We here aim to deliver a historical simulation of what it was like to be in the Civil War, from realistic tactics and formations to proper conduct in our discord. Proper etiquette is important, and along with the conduct expected of you, we will hold ourselves too the highest standard, we do not utilize high end websites or communications software to mask what we're about, we are here to to guide you in combat against the rebels. We have put tons of effort into research about Civil War era combat, tactics and conduct, all implemented to perfectly accommodate an online community. For as much as we are a serious unit, we wish to bring people together who have an interest as serious as ours to not only play War of Rights as a game, but play it like a historical simulator.
Our staff are a mix of US, and non-US citizens with an array of skills and knowledge. Ranging from Historians to active military and military enthusiasts, our staff are as diverse as our abilities and we promise to use them to benefit your experience with us in the Massachusetts Sharpshooters.
Enlistment is a commitment, and we require a few things from you before you join;
Must own a working Microphone
Must speak English (Accents will not hinder your enlistment)
16 Years of age or older
Can attend one training and two events a month
We promise to ensure WE uphold our own standards, as we will never expect anything from YOU we cannot do ourselves.
