A mass event would not only see how our different companies act as a cohesive unit on the battlefield, but also give the developers some real insight on all the great work they've done; thus far. I'd vote the event be posted a week in advance and that all units be present in force at a time in which our European brothers and sisters in arms be able to show up. From speaking with other units in the Army of Northern Virginia they all agree and want this. Please give any feed back on the topic. November 26 at 1400 EST

how and why would he be able to close this? its in no violation of any rules stated on the forum so unless he is getting upset that people are doing events and they don't revolve around him (witch is violating his moderator privileges) there shouldn't be any form of problem as he also hosts events and does very similar things.

Aye, as Macliness has said no rule breaking here. I am going to move this down to the alpha area of the forums as this is an alpha event.
Best of luck to you with this though. Hopefully the servers can stand up to the demand if all goes well!

Yes Brave, I did read that. This bloke was posting the same thing, I'm in this War of Rights Community. Just wanted to make sure you didn't go and ban someone.
Excellent, I know that a gathering of CSA companies was mentioned a while back but no date mentioned. Good to see a date and time has now been set.
Is there a plan in place for what soldiers will do when they turn up? It'd be a shame if people just started milling around for an hour and then started dropping out.

A cool thing you guys could do to add realism to this event would be to dump the TS, and use the ingame system, then when the officers said something the NCO's would re-shout the order.
Just an idea.....

Well... your not contributing anything conducting yourself in such a manner. You could express your concerns or share ideas with the people planning this event.
Maybe because it's a little too late for that? The event is today and Kiff is clearly set on using the TS. I won't stop 42nd PA members attending but I will no longer actively encourage them to attend.
What Kiff is doing by saying you have to use the TS to attend just doesn't feel right. All previous events that units have hosted have been completely public things with no TS being used for the drill and the units using the in game chat to allow for anyone who wishes to join in to do so. For something advertised "War of Rights Community Group Mass Drill Event" by saying "We're using our TS only" cuts a lot of the community side of this event and makes it feel a lot less community and a lot more...well...almost forced authoritarian. The group is after all a self made community group and not a proper developer backed thing so trying to force people to use TS just feel wrong.
So there Profender, does that make you a little happier?

We devs always encourage people to use the in-game 3D voice system as it is the most including option to use. We're not going to force anyone to use it though if they don't want to. Bravescot is in his right to feel that this is a bad move community wise and to express just that.
I hope the event organizers will change their mind regarding the TS - I plan on recording some of the event if it turns out well but I will only be recording what is said using the in-game 3D voice system as I'm not joining the TS channel. :)

The fact that people are getting all worked up over hoping on a TS is... special. The reason for the use of TeamSpeak was so that you didn't have to sit there and hold N to talk that way you could focus on conducting and executing the words of command. So for the few ( 4 ) people that for some reason we decided to change shit at last minute for you are genuinely childish. it takes 2 seconds to hop on a TS before getting into the game then all you have to do is talk from there no other things required. so when you hear "well since i must go on another teamspeak i'm no longer going to support this event" is just stupid.

Don't most people in teamspeak use push-to-talk anyway?

I understand your frustration, however I would ask that you keep your thoughts and concerns civil. I would like to point out to you that I was never in favor of using TS because it can restrict some players and filmers and is simply another thing to do. We are here to support War of Rights, and we find that the best way to allow the maximum people that opportunity is to stick with the voice chat in-game. I find it rather disappointing that you would pull your support from this community effort to promote War of Rights and build a stronger community because we have now opened the door for literally anyone with access to join this event and communicate freely.

I agree with Lance, the developers gave us a great system to speak to each other, it might have its drawbacks but its better than most games that don't even have a system to speak to each other.

you are not building anything stronger by changing things last minute. A meany of us already have and still do support WoR, to sit here and say that this event will support it is false. by donating money to the game, that is how u support this game. without money this wont happen so if you want to support the game tell people to pledge higher or buy the game if they haven't already.

We are all entitled to our own opinions. I believe this event will support War of Rights. One of the biggest drawbacks currently is the number of players on at a given time is usually rather few. Events such as these keep things interesting (we hope) as we wait for further updates in the future. Not only will this increase activity (which indirectly supports War of Rights by sharing with friends etc. when you love a game), but it will also reach a target audience on YouTube and other social media platforms creating free advertisement for War of Rights. Again, the point of this event was to bring people together, and we find that using what the developers intended to be used in-game will best suit our needs. Thank you for your thoughts, but I will say no more as it would be beating a dead horse.

Lance

That will change as we see PvP get implemented. there is currently only walking around and shooting at targets among other things. the youtubers will have the change to reach out yes! but its not like they haven't before.this game has been on youtube for almost a year now. i think we have drained it of its people or we need to look at talking to other youtubers who maybe interested but that is not our job. i have followed this game for quite some time now like most of you. But as supporters/backers of this game we have done what we can, that is be there for the devs give them our money and play their game. Now the ball is in their park. TS has always been in this community and always will be. For example, have you thought about how much the ArmA devs have put into their Coms? yet no one like to use them because there are easier and better things out there. so the community seeing this decided well lets link TS with arma. I have brought up with the devs a sort of TFAR : http://radio.task-force.ru/en/ for WoR without the radios. that way it may link TS and in-game.

At the end of the day everyone here will find his or herself on a TS during this event. so why all be on separate ones when you can all be on one together?

Macliness, I have rested my case. Any further discussion on this matter is pointless. Teamspeak will not be required for the event. Thank you for your input. I do hope you decide to join us, you are more than welcome. I respect your passion.

There's a big difference between using a Teamspeak in which you can hear everybody at all times and using the in-game 3D voice system. The name says it all; it's a 3D voice system that uses your character's in-game positioning. To me this makes a massive difference in the experience.
The post today was the first time most of us heard of the requirement to be on Teamspeak. Therefore, to us, that was changing things last minute. It went from "all you need to do is start the game and you can attend" to people having to join an unknown Teamspeak address. It's a small bump of course but a bump nonetheless. It wouldn't have stopped me personally from coming but it might have done others and further emphasises my point that there is very much a difference between suddenly enforcing Teamspeak usage or just using the in-game voice system.
The reason people never use the in-game voice chat in ArmA is, well, because it's crap. It's like talking over the phone. That's why people use Teamspeak for that game. However, the popularity of mods such as ACRE and TFAR clearly show that people still want the 3D positioning system. The in-game voice chat for War of Rights is just fine. In fact, I believe the WoR devs actually use Teamspeak for their own in-game voice chat. This is pure speculation on my part however, as I recall seeing a file in a previous build of the game which literally had the word "Teamspeak" in it.
PS. I use push-to-talk on Teamspeak, always have, and most people I know do to. This doesn't really prove anything at all though.

Fun event, from the volley fire in the beginning to the skirmishing to the long march at the end, even though I crashed 5 times. The server did surprisingly well for holding up 45 players with a lot of smoke. Can't wait to see this game in action when it releases!
