Just wondering if any of you guys ever been to a civil war battlefield. Personally, I went to Gettysburg when I was in 6th grade on a school trip on our way to Washington DC. The time there was short, but we got to walk around to places like the middle of the union line where Picketts charge took place, and we also got to go on top of Little Round Top, and got a great view of the battlefield.

Saw the last Gettysburg reenactment this summer. Personally reenacted in the battle of Perryville reenactment only a couple of weeks ago. Soon will reenact at Shiloh, too.

I have been on practically every battlefield of the Eastern Theater.
Antietam
Gettysburg
Manassas
South Mountain
Every Seven Days Battle Fields
Petersburg
Fredericksburg
Chancellorsville
Wilderness
Many others too numerous to list
At one time I lived in Mechanicsville VA, and was on the boundary of the Mechanicsville NPS park.

I've been extremely fortunate to have moved to Virginia, gotten a history degree, and working for the National Park Service. That journey has brought me to almost the entirety of the eastern theater of the war in parks from every size from national to state to country to small memorials in town centers.

I've been to Gettysburg and Antietam. I really want to go to Hollywood Cemetery in Richmond, where a lot of famous Confederates are buried.

Took a 3 week roadtrip with my grandfather back in 1998.
Landed in New york. then drove right down to Gettysburg.
A day at Gettysburg looking at the museums and the battlefield.
Then 3 days at the 135th Reenactment. (the largest ever)
Then after a few days in DC down to Virginia. (Manassas/Bull run, Wilderness, Fredricksburg)
Then west past Chiguamuga. But got there late in the day. Got a short tour by a reenactore who was also visiting, but knew the area well.
Then to Vicksburg.
Down to New Orleance.
Then a whole day trip all the way to Fort Pulaski and up to Petersburg.
On the way north back to New York we went back past Gettysburg for a few hours.
Then a few days in New york city seeing the sites. (including WTC) And then by plane back across the pond.
Was going for two weeks in 2007 with some other danish reenactores... We where to take part in a reenactment and then have the rest of time time visiting some "sites"
But a week before I was told that I was to deploy to Afghanistan the following February, and the two weeks I had Holiday our unit was going to learn how to deal with IEDs and the following week we where to train with the infantry we where deploying with., (I was in the combat engineers)
So decided to stay home training for a real war... (the others did go and had a good trip)
