So, this will take me a little while to complete. I am remaking this flag as if it were new. It is not final. I was just testing the colors and appearance of the stars. What do you all think? Also below is a tracking sheet for both Union and Confederate battle flags. Right now I have the Union units of the 1st Corps of the Army of the Potomac. I thought it prudent to make only the units that were there.
Good Day Sir's!

I found some close ups and it appears that I wasted my time making embroidered stars, LOL. The stars on this flag were painted. It sucks because I vectored out every single thread, LOL.

Good luck with it!
I think it would be very usefull ingame as well.
So if you don't mind and you have a great and high res result, we would use them for ingame as well :)

I would be so very honored. It will be at least 2048px wide. Or it can be higher. :D
From your starting point it looks incredible! I can't wait to see a finished version.

Here is a close up of the stars. Now you will all see what I meant. None the less it just makes my job a whole lot easier. I'll ya, those 6 stars being embroidered were making my system stutter when trying to save them, LOL.

Just look above the Eagle. In fact the whole flag was painted. I had no idea they had metallic gold paint back then. By the way can anyone tell me what the material was that was used? I am assuming silk but it could be cotton or thin canvas?

Either silk or cotton, both were used.

What's the name and artist of that painting at the bottom of your posts?

I have no idea brother. I am sure that man has been buried for 65-151-years by now. That is not a painting. It is the actual flag in a frame that was sold at Southerbys for some ching! Can't believe it still has the frill on it.
Here is the progress. I'm just throwing down base colors before I get all detailed and then throw it on a silk texture. I decide against making it all perfectly straight. I want to do this flag justice by tracing every line as it appeared on the battle field. None of the stars or anything else has been copy+pasted. Everything is unique to it's own size and shape.

Back at it, and I'd like to announce that my Surface Pro 4 is on the way and I ordered a year of Photoshop CC x64. So, that being said the flag will come out even better because now I can actually use a pen and not a mouse to paint with.

Okay so now I have the basic size and shape done. Now I'm just waiting for my Surface Pro 4 to arrive. I actually bought it specifically to do this kind of work. So once I get it it will look like a real painting when I am done. After this I make a 'generic' one that I can make any units flag who's appearance is not known

3rd Arkansas, Company 'B', "Hempstead Rifles" Standard
If anyone was looking to create this unit; I am making your flag. This one is quite a bit easier to create than my 100th NY Vols. I am making. I really need my Surface Pro 4 for that one. Yes both sides will be made. I am assuming the reverse side says "ARKANSAS". Each letter is vectored individually to match the size and shape and placement as close as possible. I used no fonts here.
Newly made assumed appearance

Thank you sir! I even have the stitching on the stars. I have a real nice and huge linen texture that is Hi-Res that I found. The photographer did such a good job with his picture that I was able to tile it without much tweaking. It's material that was made for making large scale WW1 aircraft.

Could you do the 12th North Carolina Regiment's flag?

"NC" was under the center star.

Yes sir I most certainly will. Is there a way to skin the flags already? Or is this just for your company page?

I use Adobe Illustrator CS4 to vector out all of the text and shapes. Then I take the file into Photoshop x64 and then add the 'linen' layers to make it appear more real. Now for Johnny_Reb_1865's flag.
FLAG IS COMPLETE, SEE POST #14, Sending to the development team (Hinkel) by request.

This is my interpretation of what the 12th North Carolina Infantry Standard (September 1862) may have looked like based on the 23rd N.C. Standard being they were in the same Regiment.
Make sure to click the thumbnail and then click the image when it opens for full resolution.

Hey Ironside, would you be able to put all these flags into a single thread? It would save some clutter.

I presume that you're making both the obverse and the reverse faces of these flags? :)
Not all battle flags had the same on each side.

The two pictures of the 12th NC and 38th NC flags aren't showing up for me.
I have a particular interest in the latter of the two. ;)
You must have looked at them when I was updating.
