So I am a competitive player from NW, and a few of you who maybe have been in the NW NA community may know me as some nerd who plays alot more NW than he should (I think im approaching 2800 hours now lol). I found out about this game not too long ago and I decided it looked really  cool  but I do have a few questions that I have not really been able to find exact answers/answers I understand/answers i like on my 10 minutes browsing the website (lol thats a long time 4 me guis), so I decided to post my own thread asking a couple questions cause I am really lazy and dont wanna dig through every thread looking for anwsers.

1. So how similar is this game going to be to NW? Is this going to be something going in quite a different direction or is this going to be the "spiritual successor" to NW that you have all this ol' NW vets digging?

2. As melee is one of the most important and competitive aspects of NW, I was wondering how the devs are planning on approaching the melee here. Is it going to go after the fun, simplistic style of Mount and Blade or is it going to favor a more realistic and complex style of say Chivalry?

3. So you mentioned a very structured ranking system, does that mean its gonna be like the CoD in game ranks with players who have played for a long time being like triple prestige 5 star general uber l33t pro or something different?

Welcome to the forum.

1. I've not played too much of NW, however I'm certain that WoR, once finished, will be an entirely different game.

2. Melee during the civil war was far from normal, thus it won't be easy for you to ever get that close in the game. The first edition of its implementation will be basic.

3. Something different. ;)

I bought NW back in November 2014.... I have to say that NW is one of best games/DLC's out there, playing it 24/7

Oh lord NW.... Please, don't make this like NW. I know you won't! I have already transgressed through that fateful game. 1000 hours too many. Never.... again >.>

I mean hey, NW was extremely successful. If you made a game similar to NW youd have no problem getting people from that community, and its a pretty awesome community ;P.

WoR is basically the game we want to play. We don't plan to target any specific sort of game community.

No doubt this game will pull many people from NW, however I will go ahead and quote my previous assessment of the NW community in its current state :)

" Have you ever been on 4chan? Take 4chan /b and multiply it times 100 and thats the NW community today. There are people like Betty (which I personally love but is a huge troll) and then there are line battles which have gone to complete ****. You have the PLG (which I also personally love) most everyone in NA hates who will end a line battle before it began (They are really good cav). Then there's the **th. Not naming regiments but there are a couple of.... certain regiments that enjoy hill camping. In addition there is NA group fighting which is just..... its just terrible. On top of this there is regiment drama that is similar to that of 9th grade girls. Also, there has been a large influx of twelve year olds into the community in the last year or so. I hold nothing against someone because of their age, as long as they have an ounce of sense to not scream during events, but it really has not been good at all....... So yeah.

However......... The north and south mod community is like a breath of fresh air. Most of the trolls stay on NW because they don't want to go through installing a mod to troll public servers that might only have 10-20 people on max. I'm sure it will get even better when North and South 1.0 comes out... (Hinkel... ) "

You do you Trusty :D Make WoR however you want it to be, and people will either choose to play it or they won't. I definitely will no matter what!

Thats actually a great quote (I think all developers should have that mentality) and I am really satisfied with that. #Respect

I dont know what underbelly of the community you hang out on, but I have had a much different experience. I will admit to not being fond of the PLG, but for different reasons (I am in a regiment where the mean number of hours is like 2000, we make short work of literally all cavalry if we have bayonets), mostly because of personal experiences and so and such. But outside of that I have joined several regiments in my time in NW and really become part of their communities, met friends who I play with daily, got close to my best friend, and generally had a blast in the community run tournaments and leagues as well as chatting with them on the forums.

Oh yes, the community can be great fun within regiments and friends. Most of the time however its just... its just bad. Regiments splitting in half, 9 year olds leading things, youtube regiments, cancerous public servers (sorry to use that word, really nothing else can describe it) ect. The entire community is an underbelly in of itself XD

P.S: No one makes quick work of the PLG ;) What regiment are you from?

I remember you from NW. You taught me how to melee back in the 47th Highlanders. :P Unfortuantly we split a couple months after... but you were really good xD.

Im from the 18th which is (dont mean to sound cocky) the best melee regiment in the game currently, and has always been the most dominate melee regiment if its core members are active from its prior incarnations (7y, 2ndQF, 12th, etc). You could not count the number of members in the 18th that have won major tournaments on both your hands, with almost all 1v1 dueling tournaments going to the 18th (and if they dont, the 18th are almost always runner up). Its mostly because of this melee prowess that makes cavalry, which also tends to have a close range focus, no problem at all. Although I can not say that we have ever "1v1d" the PLG, but since they joined the same League we did this year with the Twitch League going on, we will see how they compare, as I know they too have a ton of fantastic players as well. Lookin forward to it :).

Errr...they are NA.

http://www.fsegames.eu/forum/index.php?topic=20919.0

You might not know us because we mostly hang out on NA_Groupfighting and never really visit NA 1 (I dont really like NA 1 too terribly much)

We are also currently dominating a pretty high profile 1v1 tournaments' group stage right now ;P

Oh! It's Tico's regiment. Tico is my home slice man. I don't know what I was thinking. But yeah, I never really got into NA1. Sometimes my regiment would flood the server and try to kill everything but other than that, it never really was that appealing to me. I mainly get on NA gf when I'm on, but I don't get on too much nowadays.

Yup... lol we disbanded many months ago... Ryan just simply left and didn't even inform his COs, even though he gave Major to an inactive guy who didn't speak english, and our LtCol left because he didn't want to deal with the stress of holding the reg together due to ryan's inactivity, and we kicked out a couple of LTs because they were trolling, but I was a loyal Captain, and he didn't even tell me :| ... just handed us over to the 8th Kings and walked away :\

I also agree with SgtRithal... I've put around 1000 hours in the game and it has changed much from what it used to be. I've probably been in 3 regiments that have disbanded due to inactivity or just plain trolliness and immaturity over the past couple months. I think the veterans of WB are either getting bored and leaving or just trolling so they can get squeeze the last bit of amusement out of the game before there is nothing left... lol there are very very very few people who actually play competively anymore. I think I lost hope when I saw the 420th attend an event and they had like 4 guys, a horse trumpeteer, a flag bearer, a lancer, and a fifer. And there leader was called Colonel Ebola, and all the other guys had all sorts of obcene names :\. They got booted off the linebattle about halfway through... but still the community is dieing more and more and every sale week the new players are getting worse and worse lol.

I just hope that this game's community, when it is released, will stay mature and actually want to make this game be a very fun Civil War simulator and not just another civil war mod for WB where people just run at eachother and snipe with pistols because accuracy is super high. :) Also have a good day and thanks for all the tips you taught me about melee, they really helped me later down the road when I was in a gren reg and then training new grenadiers... I've actually perfected the spins and chambers along with playing at max sensitivity... I haven't played in a while so I am a bit rusty lol, but at a time I was unbeatable.

Mean while in the EU community the 2nd and the 79th argue over who's turn it is to make the tea.
