Just look through the forums. I don't understand how people think a game like this wouldn't have voip.

I wouldnt jump to assumptions just because of "this game"; there are alot of factors to consider for VOIP some deal with negative player interaction with each other.

Will there be a way for an officer to effectively communicate with his regiment's NCOs, for the NCOs to reiterate to the enlisted, or for that Officer to relay whats going on to the higher-ups? Will there be delay, or all instantaneous?

Do you mean an ability to communicate via voice between officers and NCOs no matter there proximity to you? Or are you asking if there will be something like a courier system? Relating to the latter, that has been discussed on this forum, so you can be hopeful. :) There is a thread devoted to the relay of orders if you would like to search for it. Let me know if you would like me to provide a link.

Well I was asking whether there's be a courier system (which seems most realistic and all around awesome to have in-game) or if it'd just be instantaneous. A link would be wonderful - after work Dom is a lazy Dom :D

I understand ;) Here is the link --> http://www.warofrightsforum.com/showthread.php?2-Welcome-to-the-forum!/page13 I believe we pretty much decided as a community that we weren't really looking for an instantaneous messaging system. There is of course more info in that thread. Enjoy.

I like the idea of personally-written messages being sent out via runner or rider. That seems like the most realstic and challenging (and probably frustrating!)

Yep. I have been in support of this idea. Good to see other people agree :D

I really hope everybody can use voice chat (within a serten hearing distance), and have the opportunity to mute people if they are trolling. There is a lot of reasons for it, but for me it makes much of the difference between feeling like I am in a battle with other people or just playing a shooter. Just imagine holding a position where some of the others with you are from another reg or people you dont know. Instead of them being to no use (like survivours from other lines are in other linebattle oriented games/mods) you could actualy talk to them and make them a part of your line for the time needed. This would make the public battles something special aswell.

Yep, I am really looking forward to VOIP. In terms of whether enemies can hear you or not, how do you think that should be handeled? I'm in favor of them either directly being able to directly hear you speak, or when you speak, it triggers a pre-recorded phrase that the enemy can here. So like, when you hold push-to-talk friendlies hear your actual voice, while enemies hear a phrase like "Go get em boys!" or "Pour it into them" or even "Reload, Reload!" Something like that. And of course southern characters should sound like southerners if the developers choose to go this route. Thoughts?

Well the idea is nice somehow, but to be honest and since the southerners hear the phrases too...i would be annoyed after 10 minutes hearing the same phrases over and over again. Personally i would like to hear the "real" enemies voice if i am close enough and the sound of battle lets me hear it. Meaning that the enemy should hear you if the distance is correct, its a cool feeling hearing the enemy talking/ screaming at you over the distance...had that in another game.
Hearing each other would bring more immersion and would stick more to reality.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. It would indeed be very cool to hear enemies through the brush. What game uses a system like this? I might have to check it out! :D

The game is/ was "Resitance & Liberation", but i think ArmA uses the same system:
1.) Whisper: Only people close to you can hear you
2.) Normal: Lets say people around 40-50 meters can hear you
3.) Shout: Even Lincoln hears you....from Texas !
I really really really would love to see that in WoR too, fits just fine.

Oh yeah, I have heard of that game. I might have to check that out. I don't think Arma uses that. Well, they use proximity voice chat, but I don't think enemy players can hear you.

????
you can even troll with ingame chat, thats what server admins will take care off then. Please lets not discuss if any feature can be used for trolling.

You dont even need an admin. Just make a system like cs and arma or something, where you just klick on the person and press mute player :)
