The EU Community proudly presents: The EU Saturday Skirmishes

This event shall be hosted every Saturday at 20.00 BST (15.00 ET).

This skirmish is hosted by members of the EU Community as a weekly battle for members with alpha to attend and for organised units to fight in. If you are a Company Commander and wish to bring your unit along please fill out the application document bellow. Please be willing though, to follow the commands and orders of those running skirmish, rank regardless.

The next event is on the 12th August 2017
The event server is the EU USA Server. (Or whichever server is avaliable)

Standard Rules and Understandings

No trolling, racism, hate speech etc.

A “Victory” is classed under two terms: The capturing of the point or the total losses. This is is to be agreed upon before starting.

Move out of spawn with four guys not counting the officer.

Be prepared to fight for both sides

Follow the orders of the commanding officers from the listed units. We wish to avoid clashes of command with non-affiliated units.

Any formation is acceptable. We ask, however, for those attending to stick to the historic formations of your units. ie. 69th New York fighting as line whilst the 2ndUSSS fight as sharps.

Rambos may be executed at any time by anyone. “Ramboing” is classified as moving more than 5m out of spawn without anyone else. (If a line as just moved out you may pursue it for up to 10m.)

Respect the event organisers (42ndPA, 69thNY and 2ndUSSS)

Aye, we know this but we still have kept the rule to see how much it changes the flow of the engagement at maps like Sunken Lane or Hooker's Push

It seems to favour the Union as the fences are vital for the Confederacy in protecting the Farm house and other defensive positions.

It is meant to be. These matches become a massive slug fest and we want to see if we can get them move dynamic.

Perhaps instead of artificially hamstringing the Confederates how about the Union use tactics that are more dynamic... the current no kneeling goes against every players instincts when in combat and makes the game feel 'scripted'. Surely maps are designed to be authentic, and to represent phases in battle. Im sure soon you'll be the defenders and thus the onus will be on the Rebels to come up with inspirational attack plans.

Having originally served with the 42nd I know you guys like to think out of the box when attacking, why opt for a penalised enemy instead of a challenge?

From what I saw last night we 'Confederates' did a splendid job at organising our 'chaotic' selves.... we won 2 out of the 3 maps played.

The organising units being Union Companies '42ndPA, 69thNY and 2ndUSSS'. ;)

1 for 1. The maps played by those units signed up, which the 1stNC, Co. C are not, were West Woods (A very close fought Rebel victory) and Dunkers Church (Union victory).

Please either accept the choice of the organising or don't come along.

West Woods, not bad for a 'rabble' of random players. Dunkers Church where its vital the Confederates hold the Fence line, the Fences where they cant kneel to cover themselves!?! ;)

I suppose (caveat, because I have not been in game for quite some time due to an antique computer,) taking Trusty's words at capital value, "the fences work as they should". So with that said, I fail to see the issue with the rules commenting no kneeling behind them. (Not needed in the rules in MHO.)

So I propose a test to verify the veracity of Campfire Games comments above.
The test is this: take two guys, go to a fence in question and place one guy on either side of the fence. Have one kneel behind the fence, and then at a fair distance to be sure of accuracy of the shot, say 50 feet or so, have the other shoot him. If it doesn't work at 50 feet, move to 40, etc., until the player kneeling behind the fence dies.

Have a third guy there to capture the event on recording. Post results accordingly.

Another great event. Maps for today were Burnside's Bridge and Hooker's Push. Results were a 2 - 0 Confederate vicotry with an easy win on Burnside and a close fought battle at Hooker's Push.

Sadly, I just had the time to record some footage on the first map. Bit upset that there weren't not fully 64 on the server, so the footage is not that epic :(

Would it be possible to get more guys on for the next event? Would like to record some 2 rank line footage, if possible :)
Would like to record a 2-3 minute trailer.

A more effektive and direct annoucement, about the events might be a good idea. Forum, facebook etc. I think to many miss it because they dont know.
But it was a less impressive skimish event. The last map kinda made people leave, the distance from spawn to the fight is to far.

As suggested by Regulator a big push for awareness of the event times for both the EU and NA sides might help push up numbers greatly. I would like to make the point though that neither the 69thNY nor 2ndUSSS where able to come which cut numbers dramatically.

But it was a less impressive skimish event. The last map kinda made people leave, the distance from spawn to the fight is to far.
Burnside was a slug fest not suited for even teams and I think I'm the future we will Ben looking to cycle it. The amount of people that abandoned ship that Kooker's Push did really suprise me a lot and it really cut the legs out from under the event. It's a perfectly enjoyable map if played right.

There is nothing wrong with the map . . . And Things will be better when flag spawn arrives. Burnside bridge union play : Going over the bridge, officers are to go over behind thier Inf to avoid being killed, each time we got over to the right side, the officers where killed and the attack became disorganized and disovled.

Actually, I must agree that organization Time will always be a factor in most organized skirms.
Our Division posts the Rules of Engagement on our steam forum, for everyone to review, prior to each one.
Doesn't fix it completely but it helps.

Here's the thing. :)

Yeah sure they got pistols, but they're useless unless you're right on top of them. Then they only have 6 shots and done. If they miss 60 percent of the time which is likely, unless you're right on top of them, I don't see as having pistols is beneficial. Not when a long gun will give you 65 rounds or better, and greater range to take officers out with.

But Officer spam, like other stuff, will eventually be worked out.

As a confederate, it seemed like the Union team was a well oiled machine all organized and forming lines and organizing charges. All while our team was just running around doing their own thing. But somehow we managed victory. Don't ask me how, perhaps the defensive battle we were fighting helped

Don't sell yourself too short. I had at least one moment where we charged through some thick smoke only to come upon a good 8-10 Confeds formed up in a nice double rank raising their rifles at us. Had a slight brown alert moment there I must admit.

Its a matter of tatctic's i agree . . . But when you charged with atleast 4 officers at close range with pistols, you cant do much. Most of all because going to mele mode is painfull slow. from kneeling or reloading.
Again i advocate for the posibility to hip fire when on your knees, or standing. Also the posiblity to stab from that position. When cav comes into the game, its the only defense that will Work, otherwise your just sitting ducks. Fixing the mele is to my opion a real urgent must ! Its a real embarrassment, when showing people the game ... And before people start knocking on my head ! I LOVE THIS GAME :rolleyes:

I'm sure the developers have noted this and as they have time will rectify the situation. :) In the mean time enjoy. Don't kneel in the presence of enemy officers and always make sure you got a good round in your rifle.

Its Alpha . . . I know. And its a damm good one. But please remember ! On the battelfield your following orders . . . Like Company Kneel. Real realistic close combat requires, hip-fire and real fast human reactions, its my opion and wish for future improvements.

I was on the opposite side and bore witness to the ferocity of that pincer movement at the Sunken Road. Very well done! ;)

(M1842 is often my preferred weapon of choice on that map :p )

Now with sever counts set to 150 per server, there's usually skirmishing taking place every night.

It usually starts small 10 or so, but they tend to grow the longer players stay on the server.

Just take a look a couple times a night.

(M1842 is often my preferred weapon of choice on that map :p )
