Cant wait.... its arcady but looks fun.

I also note that 'as always' some kids on there forum belittle WoRs. I recommend we who have feet in both camps not rise to this immature banter and praise both games just as highly, both have their merits.

Indeed shame that happens. Hope to see a lot of you in Holdfast NaW! Lot's of solid battles and fun

Holdfast looks like an excellent way to pass the time with friends and have a bit of a laugh whilst doing so. We used to lark around in NW from time to time, expecting more of the same here really, albeit with some polish and thought devoted to it. It is a sad state of affairs when folk feel to necessary to devolve into a "us" and "them" mentality.

Looking forward to it!

I am happy to have some artillery action until war of Rights releases it

Had 1 Crash
Anyone CAN be an officer so the Role of Gunslinger joins yet another game.
Cannon Fire and the Naval aspect were both quite enjoyable.
Not as polished looking as WoR but directional melee with blocking is a feature that will be great when added here, s well.
No horses for Cav there either but understandable since their coding can be as temperamental as they are.

Directional melee (in the sense of you being able to aim and hit where ever you wish) was added in update 73 two days ago. :)

We have no plans in regards to adding blocking, only timing based parrying.

Quality game...

The Devs are very strong on community driven content and have already a polished, working and FUN game.

Currently very little teamwork on generic servers, but I can imagine on Clan servers it'll be superb.

I highly recommend this game for all enthusiast of the period.

Its always great to see more musket themed games on the market!

If you like all these features, I am pretty sure you will be happy, once War of Rights will hit the Early Access phase :)

Seeing the Artillery pieces in Holdfast Nations how well they look. I have a lot of hope for War of Right.
The basic mechanics of the piece itself is pretty okay. the handling is way way to basic.

Will other artillery pieces be able to destroy yours in the future for War of Rights?

Let's hope so! Also, infantry should be able to destroy artillery pieces.

Hold Fast IS a fun game. But formations are almost non existent, players randomly running this way and that, there is a rush to capture points on the map, and folks haphazardly crouching behind rocks and stone walls and spread out shooting at the enemy. It's kind of a Napoleonic War free for all. So, while it is fun, I enjoy playing War of Rights even more....but that's just me.

If you never played Napoleonic Wars you wouldn't understand the community of Holdfast. You will find formations during events but on the public servers it's mostly do whatever you want.

Are you talking about Total War or the Mount and Blade mod? Either way you are right, I haven't played online multiplayer that much until recently. Holdfast is a good time (I just got off the game), but I like the "believability" of WoR.

Afther playing my first H:NaW 20 vs 20 LB yeasterday i have to say i had a ton of fun.

Holdfast has the potential to be a really good game for atm it is a ok game. Holdfast can even be the NW killer if the Dev team work out the lag and melee issue. I really like the Naval battle, Coustal siege, ragdoll effect and the arty.

With 90% of the NW organised clans going over to HF, and with them having the ear of the Devs... Im sure we'll see it develop into a excellent game.

HF is funny but no time i had the immersion to be part of the battle or war. It plays very arcade (Not a disadvantage just a other sub-genre)

I miss historical formations like in WoR (not all use it but a lot more than HF) because those single line columns give me headache ^^

Also RP is very hard and in the end is non existent.

So in the end we will only play as a ship crew (greetings to our sistership Bravescot ;) ) because alone on this ship we can use RP and historical orders. HF is a "gap filler" between our WoR drills and events!!

*whispers* cant wait for beta of WoR xD *whispers*

I just recently got it, and it seems very similar in play style to Napoleonic Wars Mount and Blade.

Holdfast is basically the spiritual successor to mount and blade warband Napoleonic wars

Though it looks like its based on the source engine, i think i will give it a try...looks fun, maybe a game you need if you have like 30 minutes to spare :P

It's UE4 not Source.

Really high count Player servers and kind of fun Gameplay, definitely worth £15 as it's only going to grow from here.

I stand corrected, they've done some awesome stuff with that Engine!

Also forgot to mention, when I was last playing loads of people in servers were asking about War of Rights aka 'that other Game set during the ACW' so I did my best to try and pimp your game

First time that I heard that they use unity. If they do so I am not impressed. In this case it looks shitty because unity can do more.

I thought they updated their own one from FSE

Now I am speechless and I don't know what I should think about it.

I hope they will invest more time in the future to make it looks better but I think they won't do it.

The core community give a damn about it. They want a competitive melee system and not the shit what they have atm.

In the end I am not impressed. Take a look at Hell let loose for example. They show that it is possible to create a great looking game with unity.

But I don't care. If I want a great looking game with realism I play WoR with my boys. If I want to sail or derp around and bother some kiddos I play HF :p

Unity, unreal, cry, frostbite.....

Where is the difference? xD

Ahh sorry. I messed it up with all the U's :D

Fight for shorter Workdays!! And the right of free and unlimited coffee at your work to prevent such silly fails xD

Well cry-engine is a single player passed engine

Unreal-engine is for mass amounts or player that still like the game to look good

Unity is for people learning game dev or an inde studio

And frostbite is only for EA

R21

They all seem to offer their own advantages and disadvantages, like CE3 pretty much kicks the arse of every other Engine when it comes to Foliage and Nature as that's what it was built around.

I wish indie Devs could license out Frostbite, it seems like a seriously powerful Engine.

Hold Fast is a fine FPS. Very funny and at times somewhat like WoR. WoR Is much more serious and deticated to realismen, and the grafics are way beyond HF. But there are much great things in HF and there is a huge potential in the players over there, to come and join WoR once the game progress into the future. One thing i really like in HF, is the 3 person wiev, and how easy forming up goes using it !
One thing is just the same in booth games . . . Officers shouting "Form a line" Slight diffrense is that in WoR people do form up, in HF a lot goes off to the battel line and form up there.

Even though i like 3rd person view, 1st person view makes the game more realistic. Being in 1st person makes you feel that you're actually in the combat compared to a hovering camera behind your soldier. I actually hope that the devs keep 3rd person view outside of the actual battle servers.

I realise above quote is a year old but I saw a Holdfast event on Twitch yesterday with 200 on the server.

It looks and sounds very arcady and comes across as a parody of Napoleonic warfare.

WoR looks, feels and sounds so much more authentic. I hope when WoR goes public it retains its more serious (but fun) culture.
