Hi, i had a question that i asked myself several times but now i need an answer. My question is : How can i be able to walk perfectly in my position in the line without disorganised my line ? Will it be a system of " partially automatic walk" or a free walk system ?

I'm going to guess a load of practice.

This is a good point, how will a wheel be accomplished without some form of very incremental speed control??

practice makes perfect. walking in formation wont be to bad but wheeling is gonna be tougher, its hard enough to do it in real life and still keep rank

In Free Look trailer they walk in formation, but I assume they are scripted and not real people playing.

I guess we will find out when we get in skirmish huh...

Well, hmm......If you're free to look around, it would seem that everybody would look to their left except for the pivot man who would be the logical one to regulate the speed. Something along those lines.

And this is why third person is needed.

Here is something else to be said for 3d person. When I go into 1st person on my other games, my eye stress goes way up. Sometimes even motion sickness. When I first started playing WWIIOL I was taking Dramamine in order to be able to stay in the game......LOL. But over time that had improved.
But, the devs have a vision. And that is what will be.

Exactly. The devs know what they want their game to like, and they will make it like that. If its not your cup of tea, then its not your cup of tea. Thats not say they wont take ideas though :)

I understand, however, in "linebattles" not having a third person will be very hard to form formations and move as a unit. We'll see though.

The devs will unveil the answers to our questions and concerns shortly :) You can be sure of that.

3rd person wouldn't be to good in this game imo it would kinda kill the immersion, don't get me wrong i do enjoy third person games but it wouldn't work for this one.

Of course, I'm more than sure they will find a way around it that works nicely. ;)

I have a hunch that they have some in-game mechanic for walking in formation. For example: hitting a certain key on your keyboard will move your character into place within the formation.

I would be somewhat ok with this depending the extent of the system.

would prefer if it was 1st person only, in NaS everyone know where everyone is and its impossible to do an ambush. also it adds alot to the realism and immerison.

Yea same, 3rd person doesn't give you that real experience that 1st person does.

As long as the First Sergeant knew where to go, it should be fairly easy for the rest of the line.

Well if we get any of the players like those of NW/NS forming a simple line would be very tricky.
Now having a handbook or a video series (along the lines of the World of Warships one) would be very helpful in improving ability to form a formation. However I very much doubt that the devs will have time to do this, maybe we will have someone in the community who would be interesting in doing it.
However we will have to wait to see the mechanics of marching first.

I agree, we should start a thread to compile all relevant information about marching .
