The Regiment in History
The unit fought at First Manassas under General Cocke, then was assigned to General Pickett's, Garnett's, and Hunton's Brigade. It participated in the campaigns of the Army of Northern Virginia from Williamsburg to Gettysburg except when it was detached to Suffolk with Longstreet. Later it served in North Carolina, returned to Virginia, and took an active part in the battles of Drewry's Bluff and Cold Harbor. The 18th endured the hardships of the Petersburg trenches north of the James River and saw action around Appomattox.
It lost 6 killed and 13 wounded at First Manassas and in April, 1862, had 700 men fit for duty. The unit reported 206 casualties during the Seven Days' Battles, and of the 120 engaged in the Maryland Campaign, thirty-six percent of the 312 in action were killed, wounded, or missing. Many were captured at Sayler's Creek and only 2 officers and 32 men surrendered at Appomattox Courthouse.

The Regiment in War of Rights
The community that has formed these companies of the 18th Virginia is a long standing group of close-knit fellows, who aim to bring a close and disciplined formation to War of Rights. Our community has extensive experience with tactics, both modern and historical, through experience with the various musketry mods for Mount and Blade: Warband, and the Arma series. We have, behind our eagerness, a rich history, grand traditions, and a deeply-rooted sense of esprit-de-corps; we have culminated into what we are over nearly six years of playing games together.
We are looking for fresh faces to become part of our community, not just another cog in the regimental machine. We look for individuals who have pride and tact, and who are eager to join something larger than themselves, and enthusiastically contribute to it. We are not interested in those who want to just lazily be along for the ride. If this sounds like the fit for you, feel free to contact a recruiting officer.

In listing all ten companies here, we don't intend to imply that we believe we have reserved them, but rather to express our eventual,
extremely long term, goals. We hope to have a close, organized relationship with the companies of the 18th; if your group is looking for something more in-depth, we
would be eager to talk with you!
