Are there any other folks here who fly on a regular basis? The 'BoX' series has been built into quite an excellent simulator in recent months, moreso with the new Kuban expansion. I probably spend more time in this than any other game, it would be most excellent to find others (both rookie and veteran) to fly alongside us.

Both Stalingrad and Moscow are on sale now, there's no better time!

Responsible BUMP!

McMuffin, this is an exceptionally late response. The easiest answer would be to say that it's like War Thunder or something, but it's really not. It's a true flight simulator on the Eastern front, and soon to be western front with the release of Bodenplatte. It requires patience to learn but the rewards are immense.

Kyle, we use our own Discord. There are four/five of us that fly on a regular basis, almost exclusively bombers, and typically level-bombing at that. A couple of us do like to fly fighter-bombers though from time to time if the mood takes us. Yoyo has recently joined us in our endeavours to bring some tonnage to the game, I am sure that he would respond positively to flying with us. That said, we are always looking for fellow pilots (old and new) to join us for some casual fun during the weekends (typically around 8PMGMT). I'm not looking for flakes that will grow bored or give up after a few unsuccessful sorties. We're happy to provide necessary training and familiarity flights.

Ive been playing a lot with a few friends of mine. We tend to fly only fighters though so maybe sometime we could fly escort for you guys?

That would be most excellent, actually.
We're a big fan of Coconut's expert server; objectives are revealed as players fly near them, tonnage is limited by supply and there is a good selection of targets (including AI patrols!). We sometimes fly KOTR if the server is quiet, it has a good set of missions.

Been a long while for me.

But I'm a bomber pilot. (Anything with 4 engines and a support crew.)

Haven't put any flyables on the new build. :(

Hi A.P.
The BoX titles go up for sale quite often, especially the first two modules (Stalingrad and Moscow). I would heartily recommend trying one out! Unfortunately there are no four-engine aircraft in yet, although we have a good range of twin-engine aircraft that we fly on a regular basis such as the JU-88, Douglas A-20, the Petlyakov Pe-2 and the BF-110.

I've been thinking about buying Il2-Sturmovik Games, or shall i say Simulators, too. Just theoretically, does a gunner position on a bomber require a joystick? If no, then i'm very interested in buying those marvels of the flight simulator genre, if yes, then i'm still very interested in buying them and a joystick , it just would take a bit longer. Now, if i get it some time in the future (on sale in the best case), then i'm interested in joining you guys ( if you guys don't mind, of course).

The gunner positions dont require a joystick, though i can only speak from the first IL-2 to IL-2 Cliffs of Dover.

As Soulfly has responded, you can use a mouse in the BoX series - in fact it's generally easier to than a joystick.
If you desire to fly though, you will certainly need a joystick and preferably also some form of head tracker for movement. Both can be obtained fairly cheaply now; there are a myriad options for both across the market. This joystick (https://flightsimcontrols.com/product/vkb-sim-gladiator-mk-ii-joystick/) comes very highly recommended for people on a budget, it is a toned down version of their larger versions. I'll respond to this thread next time the base-game Battle of Stalingrad goes on sale, you'll be able to pick it up dirt cheap.

Ok, i just noticed that the original post is from the long past 2018:p. If this still is up, wich version would i need in order to Play in a gunner position with this or some other group?

Big Edit: I didnt notice that this thread already reached ist second page, so i missed Leifrs post… wich answeres my question asked above too. Aaand i just saw that the Il2 series is on sale on steam (66% off Battle of Stalingrad). So i'll most definetly buy it this week. My computer should be able to handle the game, i just need to make room.

Last Edit for today: Battle of Stalingrad, Ju-52/3m (because it flys, or flew since the crash of one, over my house and i love it) and Blazing Steppe (cause cheaper that way than without it) buyed.
