Not anything I heard about.
But when a company start behave like copyright trolls, and take other companies to court on cases they got very little change of winning, (hoping for a settlement)
I do think it is a sign that they are having some serious economic issues.

Anything resembling what the OP described happened three years ago.

exactly. there are still some rumours around it but crytek itself said that they have a new investor and if you watch at the new conditions of the cryengine it could be true.
@trusty
more interesting is the new license agreement which comes with the Engine 5.5 .
Every game which has a profit over 5000$ has to pay 5% to crytek.
I am not sure if it's the general use of cryengine or only 5.5 and higher. Since you guys work with it you may can tell me more? And what do you guys do? Will you upgrade to 5.5 if the new agreement only effects on 5.5 or higher?
Thanks for your answer ;)

We’ll probably upgrade when the time is right but that isn’t now.
