Well actually this opens up a completely different discussion. There is reason to believe that European monarchs had Europe placed in the center-upper region of world maps to try and make them feel more "important." Keep in mind this was during the age of exploration back when leaders could get away with such silliness, and also was right as Europe was beginning to rise in international trade. Before that almost all trade was done in the Indian Ocean, completely bypassing Europe. :p

And yes, all of this various type of landscape is in my province. Badlands, Boreal forest past Fort McMurray, the industrial quarries of Fort McMurray itself and it's oil fields/wasteland, Jasper and the Rocky mountains, the prairies, various wetlands and lakes such as Pigeon and Wizard lake and others, a few mighty rivers like the Mackenzie.

A history of nomadic native tribes (many of which have large populations of their descendants still alive today and a notable part of the population) who were seasonal nomads originally, with settlers of many different heritages including Ukrainian, Irish, German, Dutch, Russian and secluded minorities like the pacifist Hudderites and Mennonites, refugees of persecution over a hundred years ago, migrating to this frozen wild west and carving their homesteads and the first all year round settlements in this expanse of territory, evolving into the modern industrial and agricultural powerhouse of a region it is today, with immigration still being a large proponent of my province's economy and culture- many Filipinos, Somali's, Chinese and various other people migrating to this province.

A land of harsh winters, cattle ranching, oil boom communities and two large pinnacle cities Calgary and Edmonton with several towns scattered all about, Alberta is both a beautiful place to live as well as a very harsh place, given the climate and winters that can exceed -50 Celsius in a good many parts during the rather long winters, a very do or die mentality with businesses and the high disparity/varied economic status of many citizens. It's my home province though and I cherish it for all its great attributes and flaws.

Its one of the biggest cities in Northrhine-Westphalia (west-part of germany).
Part of the so called Ruhr-Area.. the biggest area of coal and steel industry in germany.. but a long while ago. Out of 1.500 coal mines, just 2 survived here.. :cool: (damn you cheap american and chinese coal!)

Now I don't know the exact reason why we moved to Dubai, but I do know that my father's side of the family moving there has something to do with it (although they moved there over a decade ago), and since I'm still 16 I live with my parents.
It's a great city maybe even one of the best for those who love the city life and don't mind the weather, but I'm more of an outdoors guy and so there isn't much to do for me except for the occasional fishing trip during the winter. By the way, winter here is like spring in Texas, it never gets that cold xD
