Man, haven't typed up a suggestion in a while, here goes.

So, when the 1st Texas played last night, we found it extremely difficult to get everyone onto one team, it seems many units have this issue based off of reading any thread that mentions the word 'auto balance.' So, I have a suggestion to try and fix this. Why not introduce a 1-2 minute period where there is no team auto balance, before the game starts, and just lets everyone get onto their teams without having to deal with the auto balance system slowing it down an enormous amount. Because let's face it, people who want to play with their unit will just sit at the menu screen waiting for whichever side to open up, this hopefully prevents 10 or so people from just sitting at the menu screen for both teams, waiting for it to open up, allowing them to choose which side they want instantly.

Tldr; The game starts everyone is allowed to choose their team with no balance restrictions whatsoever and after a minute or minute and a half, the current auto balance kicks in and restrictions put back in place to allow for quick unit organization at the start of matches.

Now, once the historical battle game mode is released, you can take this off of the skirmish game mode and put it where multiple units on both sides are trying to play instead of primarily public players. This should hopefully let events start quickly and prevent people from doing what they do now; sitting at the menu screen for 10 or more minutes waiting for their desired team to open up.

Team balance aside, I would love to see a grace period at the beginning of each map.
Time for folks to connect, to organise and ready themselves.

This would be GREAT!

While not actually a grace period, the forward defensive spawns at the first minute or two of each map do allow for this. It takes away the mad rush for the point trying to get there before the other team. The time, before, spent on doing this can now be spent on organizing instead (probably more time actually as there is little point to rush in as an attacker as well).

it doesnt let you get your company together though it is getting increasingly hard to get our companies on the same team as more people play would be nice to be able to have a min or so to see if we all can get in at the same time
really not sure how you do this map after map once people are already playing though

mabe when more people are playing and more servers are full it will help some

Well, the point of the suggested grace period isn't for the physical organization, it's just to let people get onto their respective teams.

On many maps this is not the case, you're rushing to take up a position at a uber-sturdy fence that blocks most bullets on quite a few maps.

Fences don't block most bullets - they cover roughly 30%.

That was our favorite tactic :(
