So I have tried everything. I've deleted the files, uninstalled the game and reinstalled, I even tried uninstalling and reinstalling steam. I have updated everything on my computer and waited for more updates to be done to the game. I still have a black screen and just music. nothing fixes it. I have tried using the bug reporter but I cannot locate the .log file that is required. I am stuck, frustrated, and bummed out. I really enjoyed playing this game, and now that it's soon going to be released it sucks that I can not play. Any help anyone can offer would be really appreciated.

Please delete any War of Rights folders situated in your Users/YOUR USERNAME/Saved Games then launch the game.

I just tried this. First I see a small box that says cryengine, then the screen goes entirely black and I have to log out because it wont even let me close the program. All i get is a black screen and music. That's it.

Thanks J. Brenon. However I suspect that you'll most likely have to list your graphics capability. What video card do you run?
I also suggest that you remove the picture and type this information in … you don't, or shouldn't be showing personal information that is displayed on that picture. It's not really that difficult to do.

CRYENGINE does not support integrated graphics cards such as the Intel r HD 5000 - it requires a DX 11 capable dedicated GPU like an AMD or Nvidia one.

It might have been working at some point when we ran another engine version but as CRYENGINE is not officially supporting it nor can we.
It might run at some point in the future as well but it will remain guesswork as, again, it is not supported officially. :)

Yes it is on my laptop. So just to clarify I should use a gaming desktop and it should work instead of my laptop?

Not necessarily a desktop PC, you need a GPU that can better run War of Rights.

It didn't go unnoticed haha, sorry. I checked all of the things on that list and it didn't fix it. I believe TrustyJam was right. I went out last night and bought a nice gaming desktop PC and I can now play the game. I appreciate everyone's help and input regarding this issue....but now it has been a while since I have been able to play so I have a few questions. How can I use voice chat through my mic?

N key by default, I think, but most people rebind this key under Settings.
okay, I remember before I had discord, is this something that is necessary for voice chat?

Also make sure the mic is set in windows sound settings as 'Default'.

does anyone know what is causing this? this is the first time I've had this problem, I tried to run the game the window pops up and I get a complete black screen and a few of my plugged in USB devices get turned off,
my system
CPU = AMD Ryzen 9 3900X 12-Core Proessor GHz
RAM = 96.0 GB
GPU = AMD Radeon R9 295X2

96GB of DDR memory, are you running 3 x 32GB sticks? I'm not familiar with your system, but I'm under the impression that dual-channel motherboards are usually somewhat unstable when correct pairings aren't made. If you have USB ports turning themselves off, it sounds like a larger system instability rather than strictly War of Rights.

Can I jump in here and say I've had a similar problem? I've just submitted a formal error report through the website, but maybe you all can help me get back onto WoR faster:
I see the Cryengine screen come up like normal, and on the Steam window it says "running" next to WoR, then the Cryengine screen goes away and I wait, but the game never proceeds from there. Then Steam shows the "play" button next to WoR, as it does when I'm not playing it.
I used to play WoR all the time up until a few months ago and I had no problems. I've checked my memory and I have more than 6gb. These are my specs: Ryzen 7 1800x 3.6ghz (4.0 turbo) 8-core processor (16MB L3 CACHE AM4 95W), MSI x370 Pro Carbon motherboard, Corsair Vengeance Dual Channel 16gb RAM, MSI Radeon RX 580 8gb graphics, 250GB SAMSUNG 850 EVO Series SSD 2.5" SATAIII.

Same is happening to me lately. Freezing on Cryengine screen. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling.
