Couple things.
Did you file an error report to the Developers after this?
List your system specs please when doing so.

If you check the log file you will find the client has gone into an endless loop of connection errors. I suspect it is a timeout on the internet connection due to load on the server. I have just about given up trying to log onto a server with more than 100 people on it. I spent Sunday sending error reports for it as fast as I could manage to turn around rebooting my computer just to show how repeatable it was for a server with more then 130 people on it. The bad part is they don't release the IO to Windows between connection attempts so you can't use your Ctrl-Shift-Escape key to get the Task manager so you can kill the game.
I did finally find that if you open the Task Manager first and put it somewhere near the edge of the monitor so you can get to the WoR app and kill it, you can start up WoR in a Window (smaller than your screen so it won't cover up the Task Manger). Doesn't solve the problem but it does leave the Task Manager accessible so you can kill WoR and try again.

As mentioned in the other thread, before you try to join a full/almost full server go into an empty server. Load in, then leave the server and then join the populated server. I've not encountered this issue since I started doing that.

If you have two monitors, you can move the task manager without seeing it, hit ctrl+alt+del, open it up then hit alt+space, then hit the M key. Use your arrow keys to move it right or left.

Playing in windowed mode also allows for the task manager when keyed.
