It's becoming apparent that F9 "ghosting" is seriously damaging the community and events that are held by the community. While F9 was a useful and novel idea in the beginning, it's just being abused at this point.
I hope others agree

Nah man how else is Cody going to make videos?

I agree it should be restricted to server moderators and admins or at the least a notification in chat box when someone enters F9 mode so it can be monitored

He can play the game and get some great first person shots.
I like Drax's idea too. Make it something we get notified of or show spectators in the tab menu as green-highlighted names. If nothing else, allow admins and mods to turn off spectator cams through a server setting.

Can't it just be a server setting that can be disabled?

It needs to be something approved by admins or a server message pops up when someones doing it
Edit: type-o

At the absolute very least. +1

I sadly agree.
Personally I enjoy spectating from time to time, but there is no doubt that it is abused more often than not

Hey all!
Thanks for the feedback. :)
We’ll be looking into something of the sorts of having a spectating section on the tab screen where spectating players are listed as well as an admin-only chat message shortly.

Unless we'll finally get a 'spectator team,' just change their color to indicate they're spectating similar to how officers change currently.

In Squad, admins can see other admins flying around on the map, so if they have events, they can see if someone is ghosting. Maybe a idea for WoR, to show other spectators and the admin who is flying around

Glad I found this after a search, was just about to post something suggesting the same. Glad to see that this is on the books. I'm hazarding a guess, it'll be something we shall all see in the next major release.

The above has been in the alpha for some time now. :)
Spectating players have a grey name with (Spectating) in front of their name and server admins can write stuff in the chat either as themselves (bright red) or server (dark red).

Ah, I read 'spectating section' and thought that it related to that elusive "spectating passive team" option with a sperate associated player listing in the tab menu.
But, as you say this post was summer time last year and the changes have been made to what they are now since. Cheers Trusty
