After Alpha will there be a Beta?

If so will it be closed or open, or both? Like: Select Beta testers for closed Beta first > Then have an open Beta.

Just wondering I do not know the technicalities like server-work etc, just a question.

If you look near the bottom of the kickstarter page, you will see that there will be a closed alpha, then a closed beta, then the early access stage which is basically the open beta. Pretty much, the more money you pledge, the earlier the stage that you get to play
