Finally I am able to announce the formation of "The German Volunteers".

I project which started with zerosius (1st NJ light artillery) and me. We want to unite German speaking companies and companies which play originally German companies.

It's not a brigade like the Iron Brigade. In the moment is it just a community for these companies.

I wish to ask all the 52nd members: how would you feel about a support/special/a much better name rank? This would include Flag Bearers, Fifers, Drummers, stuff like that. This isn't anything official; it's up to Maximus whether they'll have a unique rank or just be chosen before a battle, or whatever he comes up with, but this is more just how the company thinks of the idea.

As said before, they'd be assigned to those support roles which don't directly fight, but are still an important part of the lines. A member of the support rank wouldn't play a support troop all the time either, per se. Considering you'd only have 1-2 of both musicians and flag bearer, surely a group of members who are about 5 in numbers, maximum, would get bored? And a one or two wouldn't be able to play in every event either.

Essentially, the support rank members would take turns as flag bearer, and every support rank troop left would most likely be normal foot soldiers with muskets. Having one or two members over for the support rank would also be beneficial considering a single, assigned flag bearer probably couldn't make it to every event.

Or to have the excess support troops be the assigned "secondaries" who would pick up the flag and carry it would work too.

So guys, what do you think?

There are some things i want to announce.

First i am proud to announce that our company is 21 Rangers strong. thats two full sections. Thank you guys for your faith.

Second I want to official announce that I mixed the sections to prevent a sorting by language. We are all Rangers. Our origin or language can not divide us.

Now I have to say that i did a small mistake. The 52nd was a all- German Regiment so it would be nice if you guys can change your name to a German one for more historical accuracy. I should have tell you that but i was so exited that you guys chosen me that i forgot to tell you that. I would be really happy when you guys write me here your old name and your new historical name. Thank you guys


I will end this announcement with a really great message. The Teamspeak server of The German Volunteers which will be our Teamspeak is now online! Feel free to join the Teamspeak if you want to play games or just chillin. Thats a great step for us and our little gameming community. The 1st NJ Arti and the 68th NY have also a place here. So how's the Drill Camp for those who have access?

It's pretty promising, as well as fun. The map is giant, even in the alpha, but still slightly crashy. I could understand not wanting to pay $200 for it but I personally think it's worth it.

Indeed, very promising. The Map looks so good and as David said, it's huge.
Today I had a nice walk throug one of the corn fields and suddenly somebody from the camp shot at me. Guys, the sound of the bullet flying right by my head is awesome!!! Really. I just can't imagine, how it's going to be in the final game, when hundreds of bullets fly by.
The devs did a great job so far and I'm looking forward to welcome all of you guys at the camp and train all together.
I wonder if there will be an animation for climbing over a fence or something in the future.

reorganized the company. you can check the roster on the first page.

For internal organization a Lieutenant lead a Platoon which is divided in two Sections which are lead by a Sergeant. A Section is divided in two Squads which are lead by a Corporal. A Corporal lead 10 Privates.

So if we reach our full strength we are 97 men (100 - 2 musicians and a wagoner)
