Civil War Tactics in Perspective

I found an interesting read (http://johnsmilitaryhistory.com/cwarmy.html) that talks about Civil War tactics in perspective. I think the author makes a number of good points and I actually find it interesting how not many other people are too keen to compare Civil War fighting to the days of Frederick the Great instead of Napoleon. Looking on it, I would tend to agree with the positions that he holds - noting the casualty rates and differing uses of cavalry, infantry and artillery.

It is a good article and he got some very good points.
(it have been in my link collection for a long time)

ACW tactics was not like tactics during the Napoleonic wars... They (understandably) didn't have the skills for combined arms tactics... and much of the terrain didn't allow it anyway.
