Organized in Atlanta, Georgia, on 16 May, 1862, the 52nd was assigned to Kirby Smith's department of East Tennessee in the spring of 1862, and recaptured the Cumberland Gap under General Stevenson's Division.

In the fall of 1862 it was sent to Mississippi and fought in the battle of Chickasaw Bayou. In the spring and summer of 1863 the 52nd participated in the Vicksburg Campaign, surrendering there, where they were paroled.

The 52nd fought at Missionary Ridge, served through the Atlanta and Tennessee Campaigns, and was in the Carolinas under Gen. J. E. Johnston, surrendering April 26, 1865.

Hey man that's pretty awesome i am a reenactor for the 52nd Georgia , but i can assure you that the 52nd georgia was not in the Maryland campaign or the ANV , they was AOT but its still pretty cool to see someone doing this regiment good luck!

I never claimed it was in the ANV. I know very well that it was in the AoT. I wanted to reserve this unit for the sole reason that 7 of my family members served in it and 6 of those died in it. I reenact with the 28th GA Co. K in Florida.
