Welcome!

We the 50th Georgia Volunteers Co. G "Clinch Volunteers", and Co. C "Coffee County Guards" is a community for War of Rights! We look forward to playing alongside many of the new Companies and communities. And also enjoying meeting many of you on the battlefield. We will be operating at the beginning of the Closed Alpha, Skirmishers Phase one, but if you have pledged to join the game at a later date we are open for your service as well! Currently we hail from a North and South regiment, called the 5th Georgia Volunteer specifically Company A , "Clinch Rifles". Along with our bodies fit for duty, we bring our standards and history of our respectable regiment. Due to limitations on custom company names, we chose to carry over as 50th Georgia Volunteers because of the many similarities we found with the 5th Georgia Volunteers. We very much look forward to working with the community of War of Rights and we shall see you on the battlefield!

History & Engagements

The 50th Georgia Regiment gained credit and fame in plenty of well known and hard fought battles in both the Eastern and Western theaters of the war. The regiment was engaged in or present at forty five total battles before it's surrender at Appomattox Court House. Some of these engagements include important battles such as Second Bull Run (August 28-30, 1862), Antietam (September 17, 1862), Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863), Chattanooga Siege (September - November, 1863), and Petersburg Siege (June 1864-April 1865). All of these are just few of the many battlefields they attended.

Before erupting on the battlefield, they were formed into service on March 4, 1862, in the city of Savannah,. They were primarily recruits from Southern Georgia. The original commander was Colonel. William R. Manning. Once organized, they were sent to Camp Davis in Guyton, Georgia to train and become an elite unit. Afterwards, they were mustered into service to protect Savannah's defenses. On July 17th, 1861, Major General John C. Pemberton sent the 50th Georgia to Richmond to join the Army of Northern Virginia under General Robert E. Lee. For the majority of war, the 50th Georgia served in the First Corps of the ANV, under General James Longstreet. Later , in 1862, General Longstreet was sent with his Corps to assist in the western theater. There, the 50th was a part of the Siege of Knoxville. Returning to Virginia, the 50th Georgia also fought in the Siege of Petersburg, the Battle of Cedar Creek, and the Battle of Sayler's Creek.

After the surrendered at Appomattox Court House, the men of the 50th Georgia were paroled and departed to return to their homes Throughout the years, the regiment members would attend reunions to relive the memories of their noble past.

Expectations and Ideals

We expect certain characteristics and conduct from recruits when they join. Of course nobody wants to be in a group full of trolls, so we require members to conduct themselves in a manner that creates a fun and accepting environment for members of the Company. People with great leadership skills are always welcomed and we encourage members to come forward with them. As our company grows, so does the need for responsible, mature leaders. Although we have a starting lineup of Commissioned and Noncommissioned Officers, we still need members who are capable of leading both during and away from events. We also require of all our members a level of maturity, regardless of age. While this is a prerequisite for an Officer, it is also something enlisted men must exhibit as well. This means racist topics and comments will not be permitted.along with bothering or slandering other Companies and communities within War of Rights, along with the aforementioned trolling. These prerequisites will be maintained and upheld to fit our standards. and provide a fun and welcoming environment for all!

Due to the unhistorical theme of the 5th Georgia, we decided to go a more historic unit that served in the eastern theater. 50th Georgia served a perfect match for us, and therefore we are going with it. However, we did indeed reserve the regiment/company of 5th Georgia in the WoR forums just in case :3

Greetings,

Before tonight, I had never heard of "War of Rights", looks like a fantastic game, and I plan to contribute to its development. The reason, however, that I am commenting on the forum now, is because while doing internet searches looking for information on my great, etc. Grandfather Charles William Curry, I ended up here. Charles Curry was a Sergeant in "G" Company 50th Georgia and was wounded at Fox's Gap. I think this gaming community is really neat and the lineage of my grandfather living on in this way is really amazing!

Hope to talk with you more in the future. Thanks folks,
Lawrence

That's really awesome that your ancestor fought with the 50th Georgia. If you have any pictures or paintings of him and his experince with the 50th, we would love to see them. If feel it would connect the Company to the days where the regiment fought bravely!

I will write my cousins that remain in Southern Georgia to see if they can mail me anything or at least prepare something for my next visit. They are so proud of their heritage they surely have a photograph or relic of our ancestor. To this day they live in Mudcreek, the community that he founded. I was able to track down his burial site and headstone at Mudcreek cemetery, just down a dirt road from my kin on a heritage website. Update!

50th Georgia will now comprise of two companies. Fellow men from Company C, will be joining Company G in War of Rights. Both sharing the great name of the 50th Georgia Volunteers. Head of Company C, Coffee County Guards will be Captain Killobytes. While myself, Captain Underwood, will remain head of Company G, Clinch Volunteers. As we head further on our course towards the release of War of Rights, a Colonel will be chosen, along with a Lieutenant Colonel. We also have a Regiment TeamSpeak where we are allowing other Companies who do no correlate to the 50th Name to share with us! If you have any questions regarding these recent events, please let me know.

Sounds awesome man. Seems like this solider did more then just fought in the war. Seeing that you said he founded a community means he was invested into the good people of Southern Georgia. If you have more info about Charles William let me know! We really want to know more about the 50th Georgia and the men that fought underneath them.

I'm not too worried about competition really, we do need these 5 man and less companies to merge into the 15+ man ones so that we can get some other companies in the 30-40 man ranges though. Kind of concerned about that at the moment.

Aye, I get what you mean. CSA has a lot of small companies at the moment and though they might have claimed to company how can they expect to act as a proper fighting line? There is no way all 10 guys will show up every time. Of the 113 companies formed in the CAS 38% (43) of those are claimed companies. Of that only 30% (13) have above 20+ men.

In the USA of the 115 companies formed 43% (49) of them are claimed companies. Of that 47% (23) of them are above 20+ men.

The numerical difference between the two sides is not only vast but also alarming in terms of the spread of men between units. The USA has a far greater number of large companies against the CSA.

Edit: I'd add companies bellow 5 men but they're basically even so no point in it.

When the game comes out people will probably realise that small Companies will be pretty useless and will start merging or joining/creating Associations like we did with the Louisiana Brigade where a bunch of Companies come together to fight as a Brigade making lines bigger thefor making us more effective in Battles.

William F. Randolph
10-21-2016, 05:50 PM
These 5 man companies, I recognize several of them, are remainders of current and previous regiments from Mount and Blade regiments. They have their group of 3-6 friends and they don't want to follow anyone else other than their former Colonel, who thinks a 10 man company will pass here like it did in the past. They have neither the resources nor the necessary drive to create a function company, yet also lack the intelligence to stake a claim now in a medium sized company that they can help build and eventually have leadership in when it is large and prosperous due to their boost in manpower when it was a fledgling company.

Then again, when have we expected everyone to be smart? I just wish they would figure it out sooner for everyone's sake.

Don't forget the companies with 'ghost' members. Many of these companies with 20+ members have members that are not pledged to the game and may never be. I bet the numbers are much fewer than they actually 'look' due to anyone being able to just join or claim companies currently with the Company Tool.

I completely agree, there is no way to know who has and hasn't pledged to the game yet on the tool and something like the forum badge might be useful in determining that if one is looking to join a legitimate company.

Maybe make a thread recommending it. Every time I mention it, it gets shot down. I feel like the current system is a way to inflate numbers which I disagree with.

Update

So,we haven't died. We are still kicking it. However, we have scaled back significantly. Simply put, we do not want to burn ourselves with a game that has a long road for development. Every two weeks we attend a drill or an event with our dedicated players that have the Alpha. We are most defiantly looking for people who want to relax and enjoy the game without being burned out. Besides that, we are very much looking forward to represent the Georgian name!
